North Wales vascular service shake-up challenged
A consultant says health officials should not push ahead with plans for a new specialised vascular surgery hub in Denbighshire.
Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board says it will be sited at Glan Clwyd Hospital at Bodelwyddan.
The board has argued that it will only deal with about 20% of vascular service patients, those undergoing complex treatment for conditions, such as abdominal aortic aneurysms.
Other vascular treatments, such as stroke prevention, screening, and managing dialysis will remain across all three hospital in the region,
But consultant nephrologist Dr Mahdi Jibani at Ysbyty Gwynedd has said that puts services - and patients - at risk.
