Violence scars indigenous communities in Brazil

According to new figures obtained by BBC Brasil from Brazil's Ministry of Health, 833 indigenous Indians have been murdered in South America's largest country since 2007.

Uprooted from their land, the indigenous families live in areas with limited space and resources and face many social problems.

Doraci Claudio, a member of the Guarani Kaiowa people in the Dourados Indigenous Reserve, says three of her sons were brutally murdered.

She blames gang violence and says the killers - who live in the same village - have never been arrested.
