Deep in the heart of the Kuala Lumpur, a small piece of traditional life has survived among the skyscrapers of the Malaysian capital.

Kampung Baru is a small village in the centre of the city, the land has an estimated worth of £1bn ($1.6bn).

The 17,000 residents have resisted proposals for redevelopment of the 110-year old village.

Mark Beaumont meets with community leaders who explained their desire to preserve and maintain their Malay traditions.
