Leave Barron out of it!

As a public office holder the President of the United States could be considered fair game for criticism and mockery on social media. But should people draw a line when it comes to their children?

Donald Trump's son, Barron, has been the target for some on social media, but others have come to his defence saying the ten-year-old is "off limits".

At the heart of the online decry is NBC's Saturday Night Live's writer Katie Rich, who posted a now-deleted tweet in which she said that "Barron will be this country's first homeschool shooter".

The anger was swift, with some even amongst the show's "loyal viewers" demanding her dismissal and urging a boycott of the programme., external

A Facebook post, external announcing that "NO child deserves to be talked to in such a manner," has captured the hearts and minds of many.

The post which criticised those who "go on and on about peace, hope and love, and yet spew hatred out the other side of your hypocritical mouth," has been shared over a million times.

The sentiment was similar on Twitter where many users, external expressed their shock at how "cruel" some people can be.

Chelsea Clinton, a former first child, joined the support for Barron, but maintained, external that "Standing up for every kid also means opposing @POTUS policies that hurt kids."

Reports also suggest the backlash has propelled Miss Rich to delete her Twitter account.

Sceptics amongst you have suggested that this story is just a distraction, external from the Syria peace talks, the trident missile story or the NHS crisis. It's not.

Thanks as well to Dave who explained, external this is "just information for you to act or not act upon".

And we are really sorry sir, external that "another avenue of pleasure closed", it's not, you can still go for a gold - toast that is.

And finally, as one twitter user points out there are other potential causes of cancer to worry about, external.

So no need to panic and reach for the cereal, just don't burn the toast.

Worried about a family reunion? This might be one for you

Chinese New Year is almost here!

Many young people in China will be travelling home to see their families... It is also a time many young people will be worried that the happy family reunion they have imagined will turn into a grilling about their professional and personal lives.

These fears of looming family interrogations have now been turned into a witty song by the Rainbow Chamber Choir, in their latest video, external.

The song features an aunt offering to arrange a "blind date", an uncle belittling jobs and salaries and the annoyingly successful relative everyone is so impressed with - issues many young people in China can relate to.

The light-hearted musing concluded with a message of defiance with the choir singing about following one's dreams and unquestionable family "love", which is clearly what you need to get through Chinese New Year.

Chinese Weibo users have shared the video almost a million times to date.

One user felt the experience was all too personal. "From poor academic performance to having no love life, looking ugly, having a terrible body, working too much for too little money - this is how my relatives speak about me," he said, external.

Others thought, external the song was too good and it should be included in the Spring Festival Gala - A Chinese New Year special produced by China Central TV.

Wanna take a look? Here's a link to a Youtube video, external - with English subtitles. Enjoy!
