The Olympics boosted sales in Wetherspoon pubs

Pub chain JD Wetherspoon has said the Olympics and Paralympics gave it a significant sales boost, but has warned shareholders not to expect more of the same in the rest of the financial year.

In the three months to 28 October 2012, like-for-like sales rose by 7.1% and total sales by 11.1%, it said.

The chain said it would open 25 more pubs to add to its existing 800.

In September, JD Wetherspoon reported annual pre-tax profits of £72m, up 8.4%.
