Iron Maiden rock the album chart

Iron Maiden last scored a number one album with Fear Of The Dark in 1992

Elder statesmen of heavy metal Iron Maiden have scored the fourth number one album of their 35-year career.

The Final Frontier went straight to the top of the UK chart, pushing Eminem's Recovery down to number two.

The band's 15th studio album, it closes with an 11-minute opus based on author Raymond Briggs' post-apocalyptic graphic novel When The Wind Blows.

The top 40 also saw new entries from The Saturdays and The Hoosiers, while Roll Deep had the number one single.

Green Light is the second number one of the year for the London-based grime collective - whose former members include Dizzee Rascal and Tinchy Stryder.

Roll Deep held Eminem and Rihanna's Love The Way You Lie at number two for a second week.

Their duet has now spent two months in the top 40, even though it is technically still an album track. Its "official" release as a physical and digital single is now one week away.

Last week's number one, Club Can't Handle Me by Flo Rida and David Guetta, fell to three.

The rest of the top 40 remained fairly static, with just three new entries outside the top 10.

They were Chase and Status - Let You Go (11); Inna - Amazing (14); and One Night Only - Say You Don't Want It (23).

The latter track comes with a video featuring Harry Potter star Emma Watson, who became friends with the indie-rock band's lead singer after they both modelled for a Burberry advertising campaign.

Girl group The Saturdays scored their new entry in the album charts with a "mini-LP" called Headlines.

The cut-price CD is a compilation of five new tracks and three songs from last year's Wordshaker album.

Pop trio The Hoosiers saw their second record, The Illusion Of Safety, land at number 10 - thus falling short of their debut's number one placing.

Other new entries were by Irish singer-songwriter David Gray (18), folk duo Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan (29), and former Razorlight drummer Andy Burrows, under the gramatically-incorrect alias I Am Arrows (38).

Meanwhile, The Kings Of Leon, who headline the V Festival this weekend, clocked up 100 weeks in the album chart with their fourth album, Only By The Night.
