Hollywood star Kiefer Sutherland is to make his Broadway debut in the revival of Jason Miller's 1972 drama That Championship Season.

The actor, best known for playing Jack Bauer in long-running series 24, will star opposite Chris Noth, who played Mr Big in Sex And The City.

Brian Cox, Jim Gaffigan and Jason Patric are also set to star in the Tony award and Pulitzer Prize-winning play.

It has not yet been announced when the show will open.

Gregory Mosher will direct the production.

The story centres around four former US college athletes, who reunite with their basketball coach, 20 years after winning the state championship.

Lost Boys and Flatliners star Sutherland enjoyed a career revival when he won the role of federal agent Jack Bauer in 24.

The show, which began in 2001, won best drama and best lead actor at the Emmy awards in 2006.

In March, it was announced that the eighth series would be its final TV outing, however it is rumoured that a big screen version is in the pipeline.
