Jude Law is to return to the West End as part of Michael Grandage's farewell season at the Donmar Warehouse.
The Sherlock Holmes star will appear in Eugene O'Neill's play Anna Christie from August to October.
Other plays in the season include a production of William Shakespeare's Richard II and Inadmissible Evidence by John Osborne.
Grandage announced last October he was stepping down as the Donmar's artistic director after nine years.
"It is a very exciting and emotional moment to announce my farewell season," he said.
"I am delighted this final year celebrates so much of the repertoire we have presented over the last decade."
Law received rave reviews when he played Hamlet during the Donmar's season at the Wyndham's theatre in 2009.
In Anna Christie he will play Mat Burke, a sailor who falls in love with a former prostitute played by Ruth Wilson.
Douglas Hodge will take the lead role in Osborne's play, about a middle-aged lawyer facing a midlife crisis.
The season will conclude with Richard II, which Grandage will direct himself. Eddie Redmayne will play the title role.
The Donmar's current production of King Lear, starring Sir Derek Jacobi, will transfer to New York's Brooklyn Academy of Music in April.
During Grandage's tenure, which began in 2002, the Donmar saw its productions playing on four continents.
It also garnered more than 80 major prizes, including Oliviers, Tonys and Evening Standard awards.
Grandage's successor has yet to be announced.
