Partly animated comedy Hop has sprung to the top of the UK box office chart, ahead of action films Source Code and Sucker Punch.

Russell Brand is heard in the film as a rabbit more interested in becoming a rock star than the Easter Bunny.

Source Code, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, is a new entry at two, while fantasy Sucker Punch makes its debut at four.

Killing Bono, a comedy about the early days of Irish rock group U2, is the only other new entry this week at 15.

The comedy performed poorly over the weekend, posting the lowest screen by screen average of any title in this week's Top 15.

Last week's number one movie, pharmaceutical thriller Limitless, dropped down to third place in this week's chart, compiled by industry journal Screen Daily.

The top five was rounded out by Roman epic The Eagle, which also fell two places from three to five.
