Status Quo set for lifetime honour

Rock band Status Quo are to be honoured with a lifetime achievement award by music charity Nordoff Robbins.

David Munns, chairman of Nordoff Robbins, described Status Quo as "one of the most successful and iconic rock bands of all time."

Annie Lennox, Tinie Tempah and Alfie Boe will also pick up awards at the event which is due to take place on 1 July in London.

Nordoff Robbins provide music therapy sessions to people of all ages.

Their services benefit people with a variety of conditions including autism, mental health problems and terminal illness.

Status Quo said they were "proud and honoured" to be receiving the lifetime achievement award.

"We've supported Nordoff Robbins for some time. The work they do, helping people through music, giving them hope, is a really amazing thing."

Status Quo formed in the 1960s and have had numerous hits including Down, Down, Rockin' All Over the World, Whatever You Want and In The Army Now.

They are currently on tour in Europe.
