Inbetweeners beats Timberlake movie at UK box office

The Inbetweeners Movie remains top of the UK and Ireland box office for the fourth week running.

The film, based on the E4 comedy series, held off Justin Timberlake's new movie Friends With Benefits, which entered in second place.

The latest incarnation of Bronte classic Jane Eyre, starring Michael Fassbender, went in at number three.

The only other new release in the top ten this week was Colombiana, making its debut in seventh spot.

The Inbetweeners TV series, which stars Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, James Buckley and Blake Harrison, was hugely popular for E4.

The movie, which follows the four teenage friends who go on holiday abroad for the first time, took £2.1 million this weekend, taking the movie's total takings to £39.4 million.

Friends With Benefits, which also stars Black Swan star Mila Kunis, took £1.9 million in its opening weekend, while ticket sales for Jane Eyre totalled £1 million.

The Smurfs remained at number four and Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes fell three places to number five.

In sixth place was One Day, followed by Colombiana and Final Destination at eight.

Horror film Fright Night fell two places to ninth and Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2 rounded off the top 10.
