A Pittsburgh rapper is suing Wiz Khalifa for $2.3m (£1.5m) claiming the hip-hop star's hit Black and Yellow stole from his track Pink N Yellow.
Max Warren, who records as Maxamillion, claims Khalifa's 2011 number one US single plagiarizes his own 2008 track.
Khalifa - real name Cameron Jibril Thomaz - a further two songwriters and several record companies are named in papers filed in Philadelphia.
A spokesman for Khalifa at Atlantic Records has yet to comment.
Both tracks feature rapped repetition of their titles.
Black and Yellow, a number five hit in the UK, references the colours worn by sports teams in Khalifa's native Pittsburgh. They include American Football team the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The track is featured on his debut album Rolling Papers which reached number two in the US.
He also features alongside British singer Lily Allen on T-Pain's single 5 O'Clock, currently at 29 in the UK charts.
A lawyer for Mr Warren declined to comment.
