Shane Meadows on Stone Roses documentary

Filmmaker Shane Meadows has revealed that he shelved a major project to concentrate on a documentary about The Stone Roses.

Speaking ahead of the first of the band's three gigs at Manchester's Heaton Park, the director said he and producer Mark Herbert were happy to put their planned film on hold as they "wanted to do this so much more".

Herbert told the BBC's Colin Paterson that the untitled project, which will include footage shot at the Heaton Park gigs, could be released by Christmas.
