Baz Luhrmann is the latest director to take on F Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel

The European premiere of Baz Luhrmann's version of The Great Gatsby was the opening film of this year's Cannes Film Festival.

As one of the most eagerly anticipated releases of the summer, it has already taken more than $50m at the box office on its opening weekend in America.
