Comedian Frank Skinner has been nominated for presenter of year in this year's Commercial Radio Awards.

The Saturday morning host is up against LBC 97.3's Iain Dale and Dixie & Gayle on Real Radio Yorkshire.

The Bauer radio group, which includes Kerrang!, Metro Radio and Kiss, leads the shortlist with 16 nominations.

Presenters Denise Van Outen and Neil Fox announced the contenders, which will be presented by Absolute's Christian O'Connell on 3 July.

Absolute Radio were recognised in eight categories including station of the year, alongside LBC 97.3 and Fun Kids.

Rock musician Ronnie Wood has been nominated for specialist programme of the year for his Absolute Radio show with his station colleague Geoff Lloyd and Capital Network's Andi Durrant.

The Rolling Stone legend scooped two awards at last year's ceremony which also saw Absolute take home the station of the year award for over 1 million listeners.

Global Radio, which owns LBC and Xfm has 14 nods in total, with its breakfast shows on Xfm Manchester and Choice FM up against each other in the breakfast show of the year award.

Three Bauer stations, Metro Radio, Radio City 96.7 and Hallam FM, will battle it out for the station of the year award for stations with 500,000 to two million listeners.
