Joan Collins joins Benidorm cast

Joan Collins is heading back to the small screen to join the cast of ITV sitcom Benidorm.

The former Dynasty star will play hotel guest Crystal in the forthcoming sixth series of the show, set in the Spanish resort.

Collins played Alexis Carrington Colby in the 1980s drama alongside Linda Evans as her rival Krystle Carrington.

The actress told fans, external on Twitter: "Looking forward to going to Spain to be in #Benidorm.

"And I'm playing Crystal, yes I am!! But not the Dynasty one," she said.

Former Coronation Street actor Ken Morley, who played supermarket manager Reg Holdsworth, will make a guest appearance in the comedy which is currently in production.

Morley will be reunited with Sherrie Hewson, who played his on-screen wife Maureen in the soap, who returns to her regular role as hotel manager Joyce Temple Savage.

"Things are certainly heating up by the pool in this series, with some great new characters, as well as the return of many of our well-loved regulars," said executive producer Ben Cavey.

Other returning cast members include Steve Pemberton, Siobhan Finneran and Tim Healey.
