Beyonce Knowles and Jennifer Lopez were among the performers at Saturday's Chime For Change concert, a star-studded event at London's Twickenham Stadium that saw a host of celebrities appear in aid of a global campaign for girls' and women's empowerment.

Actress Salma Hayek, singer Madonna and Jada Pinkett Smith were among the speakers at the event, proceeds from which will support projects in the areas of education, health and justice.

Florence Welch of Florence + The Machine fame was among the British performers who took to the stage. Ellie Goulding also entertained the audience of more than 50,000 people.

The recently shorn Jessie J and the always energetic Rita Ora were among the other homegrown performers doing their bit for the Gucci-founded initiative.

Though the focus of the event was on women's issues, there was room for some men in the line-up. John Legend also sang, while actor James Franco was among the presenters.
