Blue Peter viewers will have the deciding vote as to who will be the new presenter

Myleene Klass, Eamonn Holmes and CBBC presenter Ceallach Spellman have been announced as the judges of Blue Peter's search to find a new presenter.

The new series will follow 10 hopefuls competing to join current presenters Helen Skelton and Barney Harwood.

It is the first time in the history of the world's longest-running children's TV show that a presenter has been chosen in this way.

Klass said it was "a huge privilege" to be a judge.

"Everyone remembers the Blue Peter presenter they grew up with and I want to make sure I choose someone who will inspire the next generation," she said.

"And they should be handy with the sticky-backed plastic too!" she added, referring to the material that has been used over the years to make craft projects on the programme.

Each episode of Blue Peter - You Decide! will see the contenders tackle a series of challenges reflecting things they may be asked to do as a presenter on the show.

The judges will eliminate one person each week until three make it into the final, where the winner will be chosen by CBBC viewers.

Holmes said being a judge was a "tremendous honour" and a "tremendous responsibility".

"This is a dream job for any young aspiring presenter - unfortunately being eliminated will be their nightmare," he said.

The series will be hosted by Dick and Dom and will start later this month

The BBC's flagship children's TV programme started in 1958. Last year it switched from BBC One to CBBC.

It has launched the careers of TV presenters including Peter Purves, John Noakes, Anthea Turner, Matt Baker, Konnie Huq and Zoe Salmon.
