Richard Madeley and Judy Finnegan are to return to This Morning to host a one-off 25th anniversary programme at Liverpool's Albert Dock.

The special two-hour show will also feature the famous floating weather map, with Keith Lemon in charge of the forecast.

This Morning launched on ITV in 1988, relocating to London's South Bank in 1996.

Richard and Judy left the programme in 2001.

The live anniversary show on 3 October will also feature This Morning's current presenters Phillip Schofield, Holly Willoughby, Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford with "a mix of surprises and guest appearances".

This Morning's executive producer, Miles Jarvis said: "The team have worked incredibly hard on the plans for this exciting event and we hope all our viewers will enjoy being part of it."

The show's editor, Adam Vandermark, added: "Our whole family of talent are really excited about this special anniversary show - there'll be plenty of surprises and memories shared - and it's going to be extra special returning to where it all started."

One of ITV's longest running and most successful programmes, This Morning propelled Richard and Judy to fame, two years after they married.

The audience enjoyed the couple's relaxed presenting style and the show's combination of chat, current affairs, human interest stories and interviews.

They moved to Channel 4 to front an hour-long teatime show following their departure from This Morning in 2001.

They were last seen on the digital channel Watch in 2009.

The pair ruled out a return to daytime TV in an interview with the BBC in 2010, saying they wanted to turn their attention to their Book Club, which they launched that same year.
