US rockers Kings Of Leon have topped the UK chart with their sixth album, Mechanical Bull.

More than 71,000 copies were sold on the 10th anniversary of their debut album, Youth & Young Manhood.

The top three was made up of all new entries as the band beat competition from rapper Drake and Jessie J, who charted second and third respectively.

In the singles chart, Jason Derulo hung on for a second week at number one with Talk Dirty FT 2 Chainz.

It gave the Miami-born singer his third UK number one single, coming just 15,000 copies ahead of his nearest rival, former chart-topper Roar by Katy Perry.

OneRepublic climbed one place to three with Counting Stars, while Drake's Hold On We're Going Home FT Majid Jordan and Avicii's You Make Me completed the top five.

LA indie rockers Haim - who triumphed in the BBC's Sound of 2013 poll, clocked up their highest charting single to date with The Wire, at number 16.

With Kings of Leon grabbing the chart glory, Drake still had much to celebrate as the Canadian rapper's album became the fastest selling hip-hop album of 2013.

With a first week sales tally of more than 61,000 copies, it outperformed Kanye West's Yeezus and Jay Z's Magna Carta Holy Grail.

Teenage singer-songwriter Birdy landed at number eight with her second album, Fire Within, while Scottish electro pop trio Chvrches were new at nine with their debut The Bones Of What You Believe.

Music veteran Sting returned to the chart with his first solo album in almost a decade. The Last Ship entered at number 14.

The album is inspired by Sting's forthcoming musical of the same name, which is scheduled for Broadway in 2014.
