BBC One's coverage of London's New Year fireworks display achieved the biggest average TV audience of 2013, beating such shows as I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here and the Wimbledon final.
An average of 13.7 million people saw the programme, the majority of which went out on 31 December.
Its closest rival was 2013's launch of I'm A Celebrity, which drew an average audience of 13.5 million.
The Britain's Got Talent final came third with an audience of 12.9 million.
The fireworks show had the highest average audience of 2013 even before the addition of figures from viewings on catch-up services like the BBC's iPlayer.
Known as consolidated figures, they include viewing over the seven days following the programme's initial broadcast.
At its peak the BBC One programme, which included a performance from singer Gary Barlow, was watched by 14.1 million.
That peak was beaten in July, when 17.3 million tuned in to watch Andy Murray beat Novak Djokovic to become the first British Wimbledon men's winner in 77 years.
Overall, however, the tennis final's average viewing figures of 12.1 million, including catch-up, put the TV event in seventh place across the year.
