Thrift Shop duo Macklemore and Ryan Lewis named top songwriters

Rappers Macklemore and Ryan Lewis have been named the most successful songwriters of 2013 in the UK.
The Seattle-based duo topped a survey by Music Week magazine, based on the success of their singles Can't Hold Us, Thrift Shop and Same Love.
Pharrell Williams came second, having co-written Blurred Lines and Get Lucky.
The magazine calculated its chart based on songwriters' "shares" of the credit for the UK's 100 biggest-selling singles of the year.
Having notched up sales of around 1.6 million from their run of hits, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis were ranked ahead such "established heavyweights" as Pharrell, Bruno Mars and Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic.
Mars occupied third place in the chart as one third of "The Smeezingtons", the team of writers who share credits on such hits as When I Was Your Man and Locked Out of Heaven.
Tedder is ranked fourth, having topped the UK chart with both Ellie Goulding's Burn and OneRepublic's Counting Stars.
Singer-songwriter Mike Rosenberg, better known as Passenger, is the highest ranked Briton, earning fifth position thanks to his million-selling track Let Her Go.
Goulding herself is ranked in 19th place, just ahead of Justin Timberlake and one place behind Blondie duo Deborah Harry and Nigel Harrison - who made the chart on the basis of One Direction's hit cover version of their song One Way Or Another.
Macklemore - real name Ben Haggerty - and Lewis have already featured in one of this year's most memorable music moments: A planned marriage ceremony for 34 gay and straight couples at last month's Grammys ceremony.
The hip-hop duo took home four awards from the Los Angeles event, having won best new artist and the best rap album, rap song and rap performance prizes.
"Macklemore and Ryan Lewis were virtually unknown in the UK at the beginning of 2013, so it is quite some feat they finished as the year's most successful hit songwriters," said Music Week's Paul Williams.
"Their victory was bad luck on Pharrell Williams who had his hand in three No 1 singles last year, but as he shared the writing on Blurred Lines and Get Lucky with others ended up with a lower score."
Other big names in the Top 20 included Bastille frontman Dan Smith at six, Daft Punk duo Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter at eight, and US pop sensation Taylor Swift at 13.
Lady Gaga - real name Stefani Germanotta - placed at number 100 in the countdown, which was compiled using data from the Official Charts Company and Music Week's own research.
