Route 94 said he did not expect to score a number one hit

London-based DJ and producer Route 94 has made his debut at number one in the UK chart with My Love.

The success of the single, featuring vocalist Jess Glynne, ended a third stint at the top of the chart for Pharrell Williams's Happy.

In the album chart, Williams's Girl reached number one and is now the fastest selling artist album of the year so far.

Lily Allen's comeback song Air Balloon entered the singles chart at seven.

It is the first track to be taken from her forthcoming album Sheezus.

Coldplay, meanwhile, squeezed into the top 10 with their new single Magic.

Route 94 said he would celebrate his chart success "by going out for some food with my girlfriend and then throwing a massive party".

The 20-year-old, who takes his name from the US highway running between Chicago - the birthplace of house - and home of techno Detroit, added that he "didn't see it coming" and was "over the moon".

The singer on My Love, Jess Glynne, has already celebrated chart-topping success this year with Clean Bandit on their song Rather Be, which remains at number three this week.

Katy Perry with My Horse and Sam Smith's Money on My Mind round out the top five singles.

Elsewhere in the album chart, Brit Award winners Ellie Goulding and Bastille - last week's number one - remained highly placed.

Avicii and double Brit winners Arctic Monkeys complete the top five.

Veteran musician Mike Oldfield went in at number 12 with Man on the Rocks, his 25th album, just behind US rapper Rick Ross with his latest release.
