Veteran musicians to headline Womad

The four musicians topping the bill at this year's Womad festival in Wiltshire have almost 200 years' professional performing experience between them.

The other three, Youssou N'Dour, 54, Manu Dibango, 80, and Richard Thompson, 65, can each boast more than four decades of crowd-pleasing experience.

The full festival line-up features about 100 artists from 40 countries.

'Mother festival'

The brainchild of another veteran performer, Peter Gabriel, 64, Womad - World of Music Arts and Dance - has itself been running for 32 years.

From just £8 a ticket at the Royal Bath and West Showground in 1982, Womad now runs 160 festivals in 27 countries.

The organisation's "mother festival" has been held on the Charlton Park Estate near Malmesbury since 2007.

Up to 40,000 people are expected to attend each of the festival's four days, from 24 July.
