Lorraine Kelly honoured at Scottish Baftas

TV presenter Lorraine Kelly will be honoured with a special award which recognises her 30-year career in the industry at Scotland's Bafta awards.

Kelly, who hosts the ITV morning show Lorraine, said she was "delighted".

"It was a lovely and totally unexpected surprise to be told I was to receive such a prestigious award," said the 54-year-old Scottish star.

"I feel very blessed and would like to thank Bafta Scotland for such an incredible honour."

Kelly was one of the original stars of TV-am's Good Morning Britain - one of the first breakfast shows in the UK.

She went on to help launch GMTV in 1993. Lorraine Live - a forerunner to the current Lorraine show - began in 1995.

Bafta's Scotland's awards take place in Glasgow on Sunday paying tribute to the best local talent in film, television and video games industry.

Sunshine of Leith leads the shortlist with five nominations, including best actor in a film, two nominations for best actress and best feature film.

First assistant director Tommy Gormley - currently working on the latest Stars Wars film - and Alex Graham, whose Wall-to-Wall production company is behind the TV hit Who Do You Think You Are?, will also receive outstanding contribution awards.

Jude MacLaverty, of Bafta Scotland, cited Kelly, Graham and Gormley as "leaders in their fields".

"Along with the high calibre of nominees, this year's British Academy Scotland Awards are gearing up to be our biggest and best yet."
