Kim Kardashian's bottom: Art or artefact?

Last week, reality TV star Kim Kardashian attempted to "break the internet" with a nude photoshoot for Paper magazine.
The pictures, by photographer Jean-Paule Goude, focused on her famous derriere, and stoked the ongoing debate over how black women are represented in the mainstream media.
Kardashian shrugged off the criticisms, saying the shoot was "something I wanted to do to make myself feel confident".
"As a role model I'm not saying anyone else should do that," she told Australian TV show The Project, "but for me it was an art project".
After The Sun reported Kardashian had also commissioned an "artistic statue" of her bottom, I wondered how the art world might judge such an object: Art or artefact?
