Adam Deacon, Kidulthood actor, arrested over missed court appearance

Deacon beat stars including Tom Hiddleston and Eddie Redmayne to win the Bafta rising star in 2012

Kidulthood actor Adam Deacon has been arrested after failing to appear in court charged with harassment.

The 31-year-old is accused of posting abusive and threatening messages on social media relating to Doctor Who actor Noel Clarke, Kidulthood's writer.

An arrest warrant was issued after he failed to appear in a west London court on Monday.

After his arrest the 31-year-old actor and director appeared at Hammersmith Magistrates' Court.

He has since been bailed to reappear at the same court on 16 January.

Hackney-born Deacon rose to fame in Kidulthood and reprised his role in the follow-up Adulthood, which Clarke directed.

Both Deacon and Clarke have received the Bafta Rising Star Award - Clarke in 2009, and Deacon in 2012.

Deacon won the award for his work on Brit comedy Anuvahood, which he co-wrote, directed and starred in.

He beat Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Eddie Redmayne and Chris O'Dowd to the trophy.

The 31-year-old recently starred in Channel 4's police drama Babylon as firearms officer Robbie.

Deacon, from Bethnal Green in east London, is accused of one count of harassment without violence between 5 March and 19 December last year.

His bail conditions had stated that he was not to contact Mr Clarke or any member of his family or friends, and was not to post anything on any social media website that was related to Noel Clarke.
