Nicole Scherzinger to perform Cats song at Olivier awards

Former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger will perform Memory from Cats at this year's Oliviers, it has been announced.

The singer is up for best supporting actress in a musical for her role in the Andrew Lloyd Webber show.

Beverley Knight will perform a number from Memphis the Musical, which has been nominated for nine awards.

Talking Heads' David Byrne, meanwhile, will take part in an excerpt from Here Lies Love, the musical about Imelda Marcos he co-wrote with Fatboy Slim.

Dame Judi Dench and Dame Angela Lansbury are among those lined up to present awards at the ceremony, to be held at the Royal Opera House in London.

The evening will also feature a tribute by Akram Khan to fellow dancer Sylvie Guillem, who is to receive a special award at the 12 April event.

A special finale performance will not be revealed until the night of the ceremony, to be hosted by the comedian and actor Lenny Henry.

The nearby Covent Garden piazza will host live performances from Billy Elliot, Jersey Boys, Matilda and Wicked as part of this year's celebrations.
