Dave Grohl performs gig from Game of Thrones-style seat

Foo Fighters cancelled the remainder of their UK tour dates

Foo Fighters singer Dave Grohl has played through the pain of a broken leg, sitting atop a Game of Thrones-inspired chair at a US show.

The band played at the Robert F Kennedy Memorial Stadium in Washington DC to mark the 20th anniversary of their debut album.

Grohl was injured after falling off stage at a concert in Gothenburg, Sweden last month.

It forced Foo Fighters to cancel their headline slot at Glastonbury.

They were replaced by Florence and the Machine.

Grohl was ordered by doctors to postpone the band's remaining UK tour dates while he recovered from his fractured fibula after taking a tumble at the Ullevi stadium on 12 June.

Despite being in pain, he finished the show before being taken to hospital.

He now has six metal screws after an operation in London.

But he told the fans in Washington: "I'm not missing this show for the world."

The injury did not stop a high-energy seated performance by the charismatic singer

Grohl's chair was inspired by the Iron Throne from the hit fantasy drama Game of Thrones

It is the band's first gig since Grohl sustained the injury.

Speaking to the crowd, Grohl even cued up a clip of the fall, telling people he came up with idea for his chair, sketching out the design complete with guitar arms and lights, after taking strong pain medication.

"I was as high as a kite when I drew that," he laughed.

The band is due to play in Camden, New Jersey on Monday night.
