You have been contacting us to tell us about your encounters with the popular personality, who was famous for changing people's lives when she hosted the shows Surprise Surprise and Blind Date.

Amy Kelly took this picture of Cilla Black on Friday. She said "We were at Gatwick Airport. She was going to Spain, we were rushing for our flight to Glasgow. She was in the Duty Free area. She looked so glamorous but frail. I said all of my family loved her and took a picture with her. She gave me a massive smile. She was so lovely. I was so shocked when I heard the news."

Tony Leigh was in the studio at EMI Abbey Road when Cilla Black recorded her single You're My World in 1964. He said: "I remember she was recording over the orchestra track which had previously been recorded. She had problems getting the last phrase right but made it with the help of [her husband] Bobby Willis and Ron Richards, George Martin's assistant."

Elena and her sister Shannen appeared with Cilla in Cinderella at the Aylesbury Waterside 2010. Elena (left) said: "It was so nice working with Cilla. She treated all the younger cast to chocolates and gave us each a personal signed Christmas card… we felt so lucky to work with her".

Kris Burns shared this picture of his encounter with Cilla Black. He said: "It was taken at Belfast airport in July 2009. We spoke briefly about Blind Date and she told me then she would loved to have hosted it again someday".

Lynn Kilpatrick met the singer when she appeared in pantomime several years ago. She said: "I met her at the stage door of the Liverpool Empire Theatre in 2008 when she appeared in Cinderella".

Janet Brown was on Surprise Surprise in 1990. She said: "It was filmed in my house with a house full of crew. It was such a funny and lovely time and I feel so blessed that my husband and I got to meet her and her husband Bobby later at the TV studio. What a lovely down-to-earth couple. You could see how devoted to each other they were. Now they are reunited, I bet she's bossing him about like mad".

Simon Collins met Cilla Black at a party held by Leila Straus in New York in 2010. He said: "She was utterly charming even when I said my mum was a huge fan".
