Papa Wemba, the Congolese music star, has died aged 66

He helped shape the country's music scene, making his style of Congolese rumba one of the most popular on the continent

His flamboyant style inspired a generation of fashionable young Africans known as Sapeurs

In 2004 he was convicted in France of smuggling in illegal migrants by disguising them as band members

His career spanned almost half a century

Wemba's biggest hits included L'Esclave and Le Voyageur

He died performing on stage - this still was taken during his final performance
