SAG Awards 2019: In pictures

Awards season is well and truly under way in Hollywood and on Sunday night it was the turn of the 25th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards show, which saw Black Panther take home the top award.

Margot Robbie, was nominated for outstanding performance by a female actor in a supporting role for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth I in Mary Queen of Scots but lost out to Emily Blunt

Here are some of the best pictures from the evening, including the red carpet, ceremony and after parties.

Emily Blunt, who won best supporting actress for A Quiet Place, attended with her husband and director of the film, John Krasinksi. She joked during her acceptance speech: "Thank you for giving me the part, you'd have been in major trouble if you hadn't so you didn't really have an option."

Emma Stone also lost out to Blunt - she was nominated for best supporting actress in The Favourite, alongside Rachel Weisz. She was also nominated for her TV role in Netflix's The Maniac but Patricia Arquette scooped that prize for Escape at Dannemora

The cast of Black Panther collected their award for best ensemble, the night's biggest honour, which begs the question - can a comic book movie do the unthinkable and win best picture at next month's Oscars?

It was another win for Sandra Oh, who picked up the prize for outstanding performance by a female actor for her role as Killing Eve - her role as intelligence agent Eve Polastri in the BBC's crime drama has also earned her glory at the Golden Globes and Critics Choice awards

Mahershala Ali, winner of outstanding performance by a male actor in a supporting role for Green Book, described co-star Viggo Mortensen as a "beautiful actor and an amazing person" during his acceptance speech

Crazy Rich Asians star Gemma Chan navigated the red - or should that be grey? - carpet and thrilled fans by posing for selfies. The film was up for best ensemble but lost out to Black Panther

Glenn Close was named best actress in a leading role for The Wife - it's her second SAG award. Her first was for TV film The Lion in Winter in 2005 and she's been nominated nine times in total

Actor and director Alan Alda speaks after being given the lifetime achievement award. In his speech, he said: "When we get a chance to act, it's our job, at least in part, to get inside a character's head and to search for a way to see life from that person's point of view... it may never have been more urgent to see the world through another person's eyes than when a culture is divided so sharply."

The cast of This Is Us celebrated their win for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series. Actor Justin Hartley told the audience: "Thank you to all of our parents for feeling randy, otherwise we wouldn't be here." It was the second award of the night for the family drama - Sterling K Brown won best male actor in a drama for his portrayal of Randall Pearson

Best male actor winner Rami Malek, recognised for his protrayal of Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody, thanked the late singer, saying he "got some power from him that is about stepping up and living your best life being exactly who you want to be... and I feel that... so this is again for him." Zachary Levi, star of The Marvellous Mrs Maisel, won outstanding performance by an ensemble in a comedy series. He posed with his trophy at the Netflix SAG Awards after party. He later posted on Instagram: "I'm still processing all this. And that's gonna take a hot minute. But needless to say, this is so damn dreamy. I'm incredibly grateful to have been trusted to come into what was already such an amazing world, and now I get to be a recipient of the incredible love this show has garnered."

Darren Criss was the winner of outstanding performance by a male actor in a television series, for his role in the Assassination of Gianni Versace. He said: "This is a high that will last a lifetime... if you're an actor, whether you're starting out, breaking through or holding on, I wish you all the best, break away."
