Nadine Dorries: BBC licence fee frozen for two years

The Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries has spoken in the House of Commons about why the BBC licence fee will be frozen for the next two years.

It is set to increase with inflation for the following four years. Ms Dorries claims that rises in global cost of living were a big factor in this decision, she said: "This government is committed to supporting families as much as possible."

Labour's Shadow Culture Secretary, Lucy Powell, responded by asking, "is the licence fee really at the heart of the cost of living crisis?".
