Nursing and Midwifery Council have 'lessons to learn'
The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) has "lessons to learn" following criticism over its handling of disciplinary cases, the regulator's chief executive Jackie Smith has said.
Her comments follow a Professional Standards Authority (PSA) report that noted failings in the NMC's investigations, in particular relating to the scandal-hit Mid-Staffordshire NHS Trust.
Ms Smith added that the NMC "has taken action" against nine members of staff at the Mid-Staffordshire Trust.
First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Monday 31 March.
