Health secretary pressed on whether dental budget is lower than it was

Health Secretary, Victoria Atkins, was pressed by BBC Breakfast on the additional £200m investment in to dental services announced by the government today.

Ms Atkins was asked if despite the extra cash, the budget for dental care remained lower than it had been in the past.

Ms Atkins insisted the money was in "addition" to the £3 billion already allocated to dental care in the UK.

The state of NHS dentistry was recently thrust into the spotlight when hundreds of people queued outside a new dental practice in Bristol to register as NHS patients.
