Royal wedding: Guests in pictures
Guests began to arrive at London's Westminster Abbey ahead of the wedding early on Friday morning. Out of the 1,900 attending, 1,000 were friends and family.
Well-known faces were spotted among those waiting to enter the abbey, including former England football captain David Beckham and his wife Victoria.
Singer-songwriter Sir Elton John and his partner David Furnish were also among the guests.
As was actor Rowan Atkinson, a close friend of Prince Charles.
As was Australian Olympian Ian Thorpe.
And Ben Fogle and his wife Marina.
Mayor of London Boris Johnson, attending with his wife Marina, revealed his present to the couple would be a tandem bicycle.
Socialite Tara Palmer-Tomkinson arrived in a matching electric blue dress and hat.
While the prime minister's wife, Samantha Cameron, opted for a vivid teal dress.
Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg and his wife joined Prime Minister David Cameron and Chancellor George Osborne inside the abbey.
Royalty from other countries also attended, including Spain's Prince Felipe, Princess Letizia and Queen Sofia.
Arriving later was Carole Middleton, mother of the bride, in a sky blue wool dress and coat by Catherine Walker, and a matching hat by Berkshire-based Jane Corbett.
Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall, who plan to marry in July, were among the royal party.
As were Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall.
Once inside, guests mingled and chatted before Prince William and Kate Middleton exchanged their vows.
