False widow spiders: Your pictures

There has been an increase in sightings of the false widow spider. It is being cited as Britain's most venomous arachnid. You've been sending us your photos. Keith Hardy found this specimen on the cover of his car in Richmond. His wife, Liz, insisted he ‘dispose’ of it otherwise she was never going to sleep in the house again.

Mark Collen found this false widow spider with the latin name, Steatoda nobilis, in his garage in Waringstown in County Down, Northern Ireland.

Bruce McLelland was surprised to find how easy it was to spot these spiders in the Worthing area. He expects that he brought this one into his home after gathering firewood.

This spider was found in Caroline Campbell's hallway in London and quickly trapped in a glass jar. Experts say the species is not usually aggressive towards humans.
