Storm Desmond: Floods and disruption in pictures

Disruption and rescues have continued in the aftermath of Storm Desmond which has hit parts of the UK, particularly Cumbria and Lancashire.

And in another street a car is left stricken, almost submerged by the high waters.

A man places flood-damaged goods outside a shop in Keswick. More than 2,000 homes and businesses were flooded in Cumbria.

A footbridge in Keswick, covered with debris, bears the scars of the fierce storm. Police said the flooding was of an "unprecedented scale".
