Ian Callen: "During a recent trip to arctic Norway we spent the day in the Lyngen Alps. We stopped in a 'blink and you'll miss it town', Skibotn, for a hot drink - as the temperature was -10C - in a cafe run by a friendly Icelandic guy. Before getting back in the car, my daughter stood out on this pontoon in the small harbour, and I thought how pure the scene was."

Mario Marquardt: "These colourful frozen leaves greeted me in our garden on a bright and sunny - yet decidedly frosty - morning."

Mike Robinson: "By a turbulent stream, during a very hard frost, some vegetation hanging from a log was being repeatedly dipped and refrozen to transform initial drops into still growing diamonds."

Hanna Borkowska: "This picture was taken last November beside a water reservoir in the city of Gdańsk, Poland. The dog walkers were captured in the morning, with the dogs' breath, and fog over the water."

Adam Nir: "We went on a spontaneous hike during our holiday vacation in Stowe, Vermont. It was dry down in the town but as we started climbing we were greeted with an intensifying flurry of snow. There's always something magical about a snowy hike."

Jeremy Hughes: "Seaweed at the tide mark on Loch Leven in Scotland. Just enough hoar-frost towards the end of the day before high tide washed it away. It would be usual to get this type of image early in the morning, but the tide, a rapid drop in temperature and then a burst of late afternoon sun, made it special."

Karthik Subramaniam: "Bison are resilient animals, especially in a place like Yellowstone National Park, USA, where they've adapted to some of the harshest conditions."

Greg McDougall: "Racing motorcycles on a frozen Lake Superior, Ontario, Canada."

Oliver James: "A British skier carves into a deep ice cave in Garibaldi Park, British Columbia, Canada."

Gill Davies: "I couldn't resist touching the ice crystals that had formed on the surface of a picnic table at my local park. I left a smile or two for other visitors."

Alison Bell: "This poppy head skeleton caught the frost beautifully. It had the look of a Christmas bauble."

Tom and Beatrix Beattie: "Me and my daughter froze a Lego figure in a Tupperware pot and then lit it from behind with my daughter's phone torch."
