    Well, what a night.

Some of the biggest names in the fashion industry and beyond braved the drizzle to celebrate the fashion industry. From bare chests and backpacks in the shape of sheep, to baby-bump hugging couture - we’ve seen it all.

We may have known some of the award recipients before the ceremony began, but that didn't take away from the moments themselves. "To all the little black girls watching me right now, your colour is not a curse… you are more powerful than you can imagine", an emotional Anok Yai told the audience while accepting her Model of the Year gong.

The intersection of fashion and music was front and centre, with Raye and Tems performing their latest music, and rapper-turned-actress Little Simz dedicating her Cultural Innovator gong to her younger self "because she saw it through".

Meanwhile, Jonathan Anderson scooped his third consecutive Designer of the Year Award - that's one for the Fashion Awards history books.

When host Colman Domingo wrapped up the ceremony a little earlier, he promised the lively audience they were "in for one hell of an after party" - though he added "but from me it’s goodnight".

    Same here, Colman, same here.

This is quite monumental. It’s Anderson’s third consecutive Designer of the Year win at these awards and the first time it’s for Dior, a company he only joined recently

Anderson says: “I’m going to keep it very quick because I know everyone wants to drink and party.”

“I love being in the house of Dior because it’s a massive challenge” he says, adding “I believe in collaboration, thank you so much for this honour.”

The final award of the evening goes to Jonathan Anderson for Designer of the Year.

He must be feeling pretty pleased, having beat off Rick Owens, Martine Rose, Willy Chavarria and Miuccia Prada (for Miu Miu).

This is third year in a row he has won the award.

The winner of this one was announced weeks ago but as fashion awards go, it's significant.

And the recipient this year? Anok Yai.

The ethereal Sudanese-American supermodel has been everywhere this year: gracing the cover of Vogue France, fronting campaigns for Saint Laurent and Versace, and convincing us all to buy Thierry Mugler perfume.

Accepting the award from last year's winner Alex Consani, Yai says she was told her career would only last six months - before joking "it’s been a long six months, huh?”

She continues through tears: "To all the little black girls watching me right now, your colour is not a curse… you are more powerful than you can imagine".

  6. Little Simz honoured with the Cultural Innovator awardpublished at 22:34 GMT 1 December

Cultural Innovator of the Year goes to Little Simz,

It recognises someone who's had a "profound impact" on the fashion industry and wider culture.

Accepting the award, she says: “As a creative we can feel bogged down by the need to create something, and sometimes we worry about the wrong things.

“The key is just having a vision and seeing it though - so I want to dedicate this to my younger self because she saw it through.”

  7. Tems brings her new single to the Fashion Awardspublished at 22:23 GMT 1 December

Time for more music now. Grammy award-winning artist Tems is performing her new single I’m Not Sure.

Glittering from head to toe, she’s flanked by a whole crew of backing singers.

The lights are low, but I can see that guests at several tables have broken rank and are on their feet, grooving along.

  8. Kate Hawley honoured as Costumer Designer of the Year for Frankensteinpublished at 22:19 GMT 1 December

Next to the stage is Kate Hawley, who wins the first-ever Costume Designer of the Year award.

She's being recognised for her work for Guillermo del Toro's film Frankenstein.

Flowing romantic silhouettes, feathers and steampunk overcoats: Hawley's sumptuous period pieces breathed new life into the gothic blockbuster.

“I guess my daughter thinks I’m a bit cooler now," she says.

    • A reminder: Laura Weir, chief executive of the British Fashion Council (BFC), told us earlier this year's awards would "embrace the full spectrum of fashion’s influence" - including on music, film, sport and performance art. Read those remarks - and more - here

    Reporting from the awards

The Fashion Awards is now taking a moment to remember designers and other titans of the fashion industry who have passed away this year.

We’re watching a video which montages some of the work of Rosita Mison, David Sassoon, Paul Costelloe - all of whom have passed away this year.

When Giorgio Armani and Pam Hogg’s names come up, the audience erupts.

This comes as an Outstanding Contribution Award is presented to Melanie Ward, who passed away earlier this year.

Accepting the award, her family says: “She made everyone around her feel safe, valued and completely themselves.”

  10. Vanguard winner dedicates award to misfits and thanks... herselfpublished at 22:10 GMT 1 December

Findikoglu has got a bit of a walk to get to the stage tonight, made harder by her sculpted, skintight dress.

    Accepting her award, she says:

“Firstly I would like to thank myself” - which gets a laugh from the audience here.

“I would like to dedicate this award to all the misfits in the world. Because uniqueness creates greatness."

The Vanguard award recognises a designer at the forefront of a new wave in British fashion.

Another Special Recognition Award now, and it goes to Lebanese-born entrepreneur and philanthropist Tania Fares, who co-founded the British Fashion Council's Fashion Trust.

The award is presented by a whole cohort of previous award winners - including Kiwi fashion designer Amelia Wickstead.

Being the first Lebanese recipient of this award “is an extraordinary honour for me”, Fares says.

  13. Now for a performance from the English National Balletpublished at 21:51 GMT 1 December

Ballet dancers perform on stage during fashion awards

While I rest my wrist, we’re being treated to a performance from the English National Ballet.

The dancers wear caps, striped shorts and Sherbert-coloured singlets, with some sporting 1930s Gatsby-era athletic wear.

It’s a nice interlude. The box next to me has started to get a bit rowdy.

  14. Burton credited with creating a new vision for Givenchypublished at 21:49 GMT 1 December

With sensual silhouettes and soft tailoring, her work has been described as modern power dressing. Stars such as Charlize Theron and Kaia Gerber are fans of the label.

Burton names women in her life - including Cate Blanchett who presented the award - who she thinks of when she tries “to imagine how a woman should look and feel today.”

“Givenchy is a really beautiful house, but a house is just walls. Really, it’s the people in it that make it a home” she says.

Reading out Grace’s message, he says: “I want to express my deep thanks in all those who have supported our journey.”

“I’m thankful for this journey, and the realisation that hard work and dedication… pay off in real time.”

    • Earlier this year, Wales Bonner was named as the creative director of menswear for French fashion house Hermès. It made the 35-year-old Londoner the first black woman to lead design at a major fashion house, according to the New York Times. Read more on that here

Back to the awards, and Sharon Stone is here to give the Outstanding Achievement Award to Brunello Cucinelli.

Stone says that she’s here to “tell you how to become Designer of the Year.” There are some noises of confusion around me, as that isn’t the award Cucinelli is receiving.

“Your designer of the year, Brunello Cucinelli," Stone says, welcoming him to the stage. It seems like there was a bit of confusion. Speaking through a translator, he doesn’t address the mix up.

This award is “a gift he would like to dedicate to young people,” he says .

    That was actually quite awkward.

We've had a few awards now, and it time for some music. It's Raye time!

“I’m not nervous at all” she says, before diving into a beautiful performance of Cry Me A River.

Once she finishes that emotional number, it’s onto something slightly jauntier: her latest single Where is my Husband!

“It’s a tough scary crowd," she says. "You’re all fabulous."

  20. Sam Woolf wins Pandora Moment of the Yearpublished at 21:27 GMT 1 December

    Reporting from the awards

Previously known as Pandora Leader of Change Award, this award has had a re-brand this year to reflect "the evolving role of stylists" in shaping culture.

Australian stylist Sam Woolf is taking home the gong - which was announced before the ceremony - for his work with the rapper Doechii.

“I truly never believed I would be up here getting this award. It’s wild to me - I’m just a boy from Australia who embarked on a journey, and I made it," Woolfe says, adding:

“Doechii is more than a client to me, she is a friend and she is a muse and she constantly inspires me and challenges me. It took me 10 years to find her.

"So if there’s anyone else waiting for that chance, don’t give up.”
