    Nathan Gill arrived at the Old Bailey a short while ago ahead of his sentencing.

    Crowds can be heard shouting "what about Farage?" - referencing Reform UK leader Nigel Farage - as Gill makes his way into the building.

    Gill is no longer a member of Reform, and Farage has said he had no knowledge of Gill's "shameful activities".

    Nathan Gill was a prominent figure in the pro-Brexit right wing of Welsh politics during the 2010s.

    He served as a Member of European Parliament for UKIP – and later the Brexit Party - between 2014 and 2020 and was leader of UKIP Wales between 2014 and 2016.

    He was leader of Reform UK Wales between March and May 2021, leading the party's Welsh Parliament election campaign, but is no longer a member of the party.

    Gill was also formerly a Mormon bishop with the church in Anglesey for six years.

    Reform UK's former leader in Wales will be sentenced today for taking bribes to make statements in favour of Russia while he was a Member of the European Parliament (MEP).

    Nathan Gill, who was an MEP for six years, pleaded guilty in September to eight counts of bribery spanning a period from 6 December 2018 to 18 July 2019.

    He was paid thousands of pounds to give TV interviews in favour of a key ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin and to make speeches in the European Parliament.

    The prosecution found WhatsApp messages between Gill and a pro-Russia politician in Ukraine, Oleg Voloshyn.

    Gill is expected to be jailed when his sentence is handed down at the Old Bailey in Central London later today, with the hearing due to begin around 10:30 GMT.
