    Lewis and Katya on Strictly

That was so transfixing, I almost forgot to write anything.

Lewis and Katya's emotive rumba to Harry Styles song Falling "told a story" - head judge Shirley says, but it did need "a bit more fluidity".

After admitting he was nit-picking, Anton says:" All in all, you are such a talent." Motsi praises their unique energy and storytelling.

    Now for the scores:

    Craig: 9

    Motsi: 9

    Shirley: 9

    Anton: 9

    Total: 36

  2. Let's get ready to Rumba, Lewis and Katya take to the floorpublished at 19:01 GMT

Lewis and Katya are in the ballroom now, dancing a Rumba to the Harry Styles hit Falling.

The Rumba's a slow, romantic dance – and it's also extremely difficult. But, given their perfect scores last week, this may be light work for these two.

  3. Craig tells George he's a 'joy to watch' after classy Quicksteppublished at 18:59 GMT

    George on Strictly

There's kicks a-plenty in George and Alexis's quickstep, as old-school Hollywood charm hits the dance floor.

Following an energy-filled performance, George apologises to his partner. But king of the Quickstep Anton doesn't think an apology is necessary, telling the pair: "I thoroughly, thoroughly enjoyed it".

Despite saying there were indeed visible mistakes - Craig says it was "full of style, class and musicality".

    Now, the scores:

    Craig: 8

    Motsi: 8

    Shirley: 9

    Anton: 9

    Total: 34

  4. George and Alexis get a 'quick' out of youpublished at 18:51 GMT

It’s Quickstep time as George and Alexis take to the floor with the band launching into Frank Sinatra’s I Get a Kick Out of You.

It's a demanding dance that requires lots of tricky footwork – dancers should look like they're picking their way across hot coals because the moves are so fast.

  5. It's not Alex's night tonight, judges say following a mistake-laden Cha Cha Chapublished at 18:49 GMT

Alex Kingston and Johannes on Strictly

After announcing she felt a bit like a Christmas turkey during Cha Cha Cha training, Alex Kingston quickly becomes a disco diva.

"I went all over the place," she says as the dance came to an end, and head judge Shirley agrees. "It just wasn't your night tonight,” she tells Alex.

"It got worse, and worse, and worse," Craig - in typical savage fashion - says. But it was sophisticated and finessed, he adds.

    The scores are in:

    Craig: 4

    Motsi: 6

    Shirley: 6

    Anton: 7

    Total: 23

  6. Alex and Johannes do the Cha Cha Chapublished at 18:40 GMT

Alex and Johannes are first up tonight and they’re dancing the Cha Cha Cha to Anita Ward’s 1979 hit, Ring My Bell.

The dance, which is a descendant of the Cha Cha, a Cuban Rumba step, is a flamboyant dance with small steps – and lots of hip action.

Amy Dowden on The One Show

Appearing on The One Show sofa this week, Strictly favourite Amy Dowden revealed she had recently had further surgery after receiving advice from her medical team, and said it was not due to a new cancer diagnosis.

“Three weeks ago yesterday, I had another mastectomy,” she says.

"I'm just itching now to get back on the dancefloor. When I'm fully recovered, obviously, I'm not going to rush it. But I'm doing really well.”

She and her partner Thomas Skinner were the first to be eliminated from this year’s competition.

    Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daley

This is the tenth week of the current series, so there’s just four more programmes after tonight, and the finish line is very much in sight.

On 20 December, we’ll find out who’s got the moves to take home the coveted glitterball trophy.

We already know that hosts Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly are bowing out at the end of this series - but 20 December won’t be their swan song.

The BBC has confirmed their last dance will be on this year’s Christmas special, airing on 25 December.

George Clarke and Alexis Warr performing on Strictly Come Dancing

Youtuber George Clarke and his dance partner, Alexis Warr, Salsa’d their way into the final six couples after scoring 39 points out of 40 last week.

The judges particularly praised the 25-year-old’s hip movements.

“I just wound them up backstage and let them off like a rocket" George Clarke tells the BBC.

He goes on to say he did not expect to come so far in the competition, and his Salsa performance was "a bit of a blur".

  13. Some mind-blowing performances last week, reflected in the points awardedpublished at 17:51 GMT

    Tinshui Yeung

Sorry if you missed it, but last week's Blackpool programme was a real showstopper! As judge Anton Du Beke said: "I don't know if I've experienced a better Blackpool than this."

And the scores backed him up, too. The average for the six couples was 37 - the highest of any week of this series so far.

Of course, it's only natural for the average to climb as only the best are left standing, but 37 is still a mind-blowing number.

La Voix performing on Strictly Come Dancing

With drag queen La Voix forced to leave this year’s competition because of an injury, no contestants were eliminated in a dance-off on last week's show in Blackpool.

Her departure was announced by presenter Tess Daly at the start of Saturday's episode, saying she had had to withdraw on medical advice.

"My spirit wanted to keep dancing, but my foot has other ideas," La Voix said in her Instagram post.

The contestants scores will be carried over to this weekend.

La Voix is the third contestant this series to pull out because of injury. Last month, actor and Neighbours star Stefan Dennis had to withdraw while in September, TV personality Dani Dyer pulled out before the show got under way after breaking her ankle in rehearsals.

She was replaced by Amber Davies, who is still in the competition.

Shirley Ballas (second right) says Instant Dance "has the power to change everything for our couples"

We're 10 weeks in and the couples are getting to grips with the routine (and routines) of Strictly Come Dancing. So what do our couples need? A new challenge? Go on, then.

Tonight sees the launch of the Instant Dance challenge. Overseen by Tess and Claudia, each remaining couple will have to pick a dance style at random from one they've learnt in the competition so far.

After being played their accompanying music and a quick costume change, each couple will have just 10 seconds on the countdown clock to decide exactly how they’re going to dance it.

After all six couples have danced, the judges will rank them and award extra marks accordingly. A maximum of six marks will go to the couple whose Instant Dance performance impressed them the most, down to one point for the couple whose dance impressed them the least.

Instant Dance will take place towards the end of tonight's show, once all six remaining couples have danced in the usual way.

    Sounds exciting.
