    Rebecca Sherdley
    BBC Nottingham

The market square in Nottingham is usually a convenient cut-through for people to get to their workplaces. But this morning, a cordon seals off all entrances after the suspicious package was found.

Schoolchildren, business workers, a window cleaner and a police officer walk by at the entrance to Long Row, where one of the cordons blocks off the tramlines which wrap their way around the market place.

People are understanding of the potential seriousness of the situation but are having to find alternative bus stops or ways to get to their final destination.

The mood is one of uncertainty but police say they expect the matter to be over within a couple of hours.
