Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg this week saw Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner defending Labour’s plans to reform planning regulation to deliver on its new homes pledge.

Rayner adds the party plans to bring in mandatory local plans “so local areas will have to come forward with what their housing needs are,” rejecting claims from council leaders suggesting the government’s plans are “unachievable”.

Laura also spoke to Climate Change Committee's Emma Pinchbeck, who warns the UK is “off track against where we should be” in terms of preparations for extreme weather conditions – noting the country is currently missing its net zero targets “by about a third".

Also joining the programme was International Editor Jeremy Bowen to discuss the latest from Syria. He warns anything happening in the country could have “knock on effects” across the region.
