    Martin Sheen has praised his son Charlie following the Platoon star's confirmation he is living with HIV.

    Speaking at an event in Florida, the West Wing star said:

    The first trailer for Zoolander 2 has been released - which sees Benedict Cumberbatch as you've never seen him before. 

    Ben Stiller returns as model Derek Zoolander who finds out he's not so hot anymore. The Sherlock star plays his model rival.

    Derren Brown seems pretty happy with the reviews for the first night of his new show Miracle. 

    Bruce Dessau in theEvening Standard gave it 4 stars, externaland called it a "show of gobsmackingly wonderful moments". 

    "Some of his patter may be mildly cheesy, but Derren Brown's latest show is full of deft quickfire illusions and spell-binding entertainment."

    The showgets 5 stars in the Telegraph, external - Dominic Cavendish called it "completely astounding". 

    "The show is called Miracle, and by God, or Whoever, it lives up to that title."

  7. Star Wars spin-off Rogue One character name revealedpublished at 13:06

    Next year’s Star Wars spin-off movie Rogue One is set in the run up to the original Star Wars: A New Hope, and it revolves around a plan by a band of resistance fighters to steal the plans to the Death Star.

    There have been few details released so far, but now the character played by actor Riz Ahmed - one of the resistance fighters - has been revealed on his agent's website, external. Meet Bodhi Rook!

  8. Ricky Gervais heads out on the roadpublished at 12:48

    While Stephen Merchant is working on a show with John Krasinski - his comedy partner Ricky Gervais has returned to The Office to start filming David Brent: Life on the Road. 

    The movie sees Brent attempting a music career with a self-financed tour. 

    A picture has been released to mark the first day of filming and sees Gervais as David Brent in the recording studio.

  9. Stephen Merchant and John Krasinski create animated comedypublished at 12:27

    More TV news - Stephen Merchant has teamed up with John Krasinski to create an animated comedy. 

    Merchant created The Office, while Krasinski starred in the US version of The Office and this show is based where?... yes, an office - although this one is a dream therapy centre. 

    Production will start later this year and will air on Adult Swim.

  10. Sarah Jessica Parker teams up with Sharon Horganpublished at 11:48

    News now on some great sounding TV coming soon..ish. 

    Sharon Horgan, the woman behind the fab Channel 4 Comedy Catastrophe (with Rob Delaney), has got herself a new job in Hollywood and has created a show with Sarah Jessica Parker. 

    The HBO show should hit screens next spring or summer. 

    Variety have a few more details - they say the show is “the story of a very, very long divorce”. 

    SJP will play Frances, a woman reassessing her life and her marriage, who finds making a clean break and getting a fresh start are harder than she thought.

  12. Richard Ayoade to host British Independent Film Awardspublished at 11:04

    It's been announced IT Crowd star Richard Ayoade will host this year's British Independent Film Awards (Bifa).

    The actor and director won the best screenplay Bifa in 2011 for his directorial debut film Submarine. 

    The awards will take place on Sunday 6 December at Old Billingsgate in London.

    River actress Lesley Manville was at Buckingham Palace yesterday to received her OBE for services to drama from Prince William.

    The star said the honour was "the ultimate pat on the back" in recognition of her lengthy career.

  14. Zayn Malik reveals new musicpublished at 10:05

    Former One Direction star Zayn Malik says being a solo artist is "fully liberating". 

    In an interview with US magazine Fader, external - his first since quitting the band earlier this year - the singer talked about the influences for his new album and life as a Muslim pop star.

    A snippet of a new track, called Befour, was also revealed in the video interview.

  15. Stan Lee 'had no idea one of his comic book characters was gay'published at 09:46

    Comic book legend Stan Lee had a bit of a surprise on the Today programme on BBC Radio 4 this morning when he was asked about one of his characters, Ice Man, coming out as gay. 

    He admitted he had no idea it had happened because he doesn't read the comics any more due to his poor eyesight. 

    He told presenter Sarah Montague he "tries not to think about" the fact he earns no royalties from the Spider-Man film franchise and his proudest achievement was playing a part in making comic books a legitimate art form. 

    It's a good listen and started with the tale of how he came up with the character Spider-Man. 

  16. Sir Bruce Forsyth recovers from oppublished at 09:04

    Get well soon to Sir Bruce Forsyth - he's returned home from hospital after having keyhole surgery. 

    A statement issued by his manager, Ian Wilson, said the 87-year-old entertainer underwent a procedure on an abdominal aortic aneurysm last Thursday. 

    It was discovered he needed the operation when he underwent extensive medical checks following a recent fall.

    The procedure was a complete success and while Sir Bruce needs to rest and recuperate, it is anticipated, given the minimally invasive nature of this operation, he will make a speedy recovery.
