  2. Robinson: My comments were supportive of colleaguespublished at 17:37 British Summer Time 4 October 2023

Calvin Robinson has just been interviewed on Sky News.

Asked why he's been dismissed, he says: "I wish I knew. The reasons they're giving me are gross misconduct for my tweets, but my comments were supportive of my colleagues and supportive of the station and... the mission that the station is supposed to be on."

He says Laurence Fox "was trying to be funny", but "it was inappropriate" and "he should have been reprimanded" - but he says the host of the programme, Dan Wootton, "didn't need to be suspended".

GB News says an internal investigation into Wootton is continuing.

We haven't heard from Fox since GB News announced his employment had been ended.

But in a video last Thursday, Fox apologised for the language he used and predicted his sacking, which he said would open GB News up to "complete destruction".

"GB News had one opportunity and that opportunity was to stand up and defend free speech, which they haven't done," he said.

"So I think now as they brand themselves the home of free speech, they're actually the home of cancel culture."

  4. Dan Wootton's apology for 'lapse of judgement'published at 17:10 British Summer Time 4 October 2023

As we've been, reporting the comments made by Lawrence Fox were broadcast while he was a guest on Dan Wootton's GB News show.

We haven't heard from Wootton since Fox was sacked, but let's have a look at what he said last Wednesday.

In a follow-up post to an earlier apology, external, Wootton wrote on social media: "I want to reiterate my regret over last night's exchange with Laurence on GB News. Having looked at the footage, I can see how inappropriate my reaction to his totally unacceptable remarks appears to be and want to be clear that I was in no way amused by the comments.

He said he reacted "out of shock and suprise in an off-guard moment" while searching for tweets Ava Evans had sent him earlier in the day.

"However, I should have intervened immediately to challenge offensive and misogynistic remarks," he added.

"I apologise unreservedly for what was a very unfortunate lapse in judgment on my part under the intense pressure of a bizarre exchange... I'm devastated that I let down the team and our supportive GBN family.

"We seek to tackle the issue and not the person," he wrote.

  5. WATCH: Minister for men or minister for mental health?published at 16:54 British Summer Time 4 October 2023

As we have been reporting, Laurence Fox has been sacked by GB News over comments he made about female journalist Ava Evans.

During a discussion on GB News' Dan Wootton Tonight programme, Fox asked "what self-respecting man" would "climb into bed" with Evans - the political correspondent at PoliticsJOE.

His outburst followed a suggestion by Evans that appointing a minister of men, rather than a minister for mental health, might feed into a "culture war".

She made the remarks during an appearance on BBC Politics Live, which you can watch back here - as she discusses the issue with comedian Geoff Norcott, who has written the new book The British Bloke Decoded.

Here's a little more from Calvin Robinson, who is says there is "division" at the GB News channel.

In his 10-minute video he goes on to say Laurence Fox said "something crass on air".

He says that he views the presenter as a "good friend" and a "brother" and told Fox straight he shouldn't have said what he said.

"Dan Wootton was the host of the show and he was flustered in the moment and didn't challenge him as heavily as he should have done and of course he gets suspended too," Robinson says.

"They have just dumped me. It is hurtful," he adds.

On Tuesday Laurence Fox asked what "self-respecting man" would "climb into bed" with journalist Ava Evans during a discussion about political news on Dan Wootton Tonight.

He went on to say: "That little woman has been fed, spoon-fed oppression day after day after day...

"We need powerful, strong, amazing women who make great points for themselves, we don't need these sort of feminist 4.0… they're pathetic and embarrassing.

"Who would want to shag that?"

Neither Evans or Fox were on the same programme. But, earlier in the day Evans, who is the political correspondent for online news platform PoliticsJOE, spoke on BBC’s Politics Live about the topic of men’s mental health.

Responding to a suggestion a minister of men could be appointed to help tackle men’s mental health, Evans said it might feed into a "culture war".

She added that mental illness "is a crisis that's endemic throughout the country, not specific to men".

But, after her appearance on the show, Evans said: “I was a little rash on my anti-minister for men comments, which I do regret and am actually very interested in a brief for a minister on young men’s mental health.”
