  7. Royal fans 'erupt' as crowds gather in Windsor

Crowds have begun to gather near Windsor Castle this afternoon.

The duke and duchess's home, Frogmore Cottage, is in the grounds of the Berkshire estate, west of London.

BBC royal correspondent Nicholas Witchell says it is likely Meghan did give birth at home.

Helena Wilkinson reports from outside the castle: "Windsor is getting very busy.

"There was a group of people just a few minutes ago - on hearing that the baby had been born - erupted in applause. Just a bit further from where we are a lot of people are now gathering.

"There's a corner, not too far away from me just off the main street, where a lot of the royal fans tend to gather.

"Over the past couple of days somebody, rather prematurely, put a couple of banners up there: one of them saying 'congratulations on the birth of your baby girl', the other 'congratulations on the birth of your baby boy'."

  10. 'Harry has relished this moment'

    Nicholas Witchell

    BBC royal correspondent

"I think he [Prince Harry] has really relished and anticipated this moment. I think he has really, really wanted to start a family.

"He's good with children - he's good with people - but I think he has a distinctive affinity with children.

"I think actually he's been a little bit jealous perhaps of his brother, who now of course has three, and I think he's been rather keen to catch up or to start his own family."
