    A Rotherham community project has had such success making money for good causes that they're keen for new people to get involved.

    'Kivo-Ebiz' was set up 11 years ago by the Kiveton Park & Wales Community Development Trust. 

    Since then, it's raised more than half a million pounds!

  2. York is not flooded - locals tell The Sunpublished at 10:10 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2016

    The York Press, external is running a story criticising a national rival for saying the city is flooded when it is not.

    The Sun ran an article on Wednesday saying the city was under water.

    But local councillor Chris Steward has criticised the paper as the city was not flooded at the time.

    Two men are due in court this morning charged in connection with a death in Scarborough.

    The 51 and 20-year-old men are due to appear at Scarborough Magistrates Court.

    The men were charged with the murder of a man in the town.

    The 49-year-old victim was found at a house on St John's Avenue in Scarborough on Tuesday.

    A man was been charged with murder after a woman was found dead on Boxing Day. 

    The woman, aged 39, was found at an address in Bankholme Court, in Bradford.

    As you're setting up the kids new toys after Christmas you might want to take heed of this warning.

    Barnsley Council say 84% of the items they tested had button batteries in.

    A West Yorkshire pub badly damaged in last year's Boxing Day floods is planning to expand. 

    The Mill Hey Brew House at Haworth was partly-refurbished when flood waters caused the side of the building to crumble.

    A year on and the venue is now back in operation and has been up and running for the last seven weeks.

    Manager Gareth Dean says their return has been so successful the firm now needs to grow.

    Tributes are being paid to a North Yorkshire police officer who has lost her battle with cancer.

    Suzanne Asquith BEM (British Empire Medal) had been fighting the disease for four years.

    The Deputy Chief Constable of North Yorkshire Police, Tim Madgwick, has paid tribute to Suzanne on social media:

    Suzanne was awarded the BEM earlier this year for her services to policing and youth engagement and had previously won the North Yorkshire Police Award for Inspiration in 2015.  

    The chair of the North Yorkshire Police Federation Mike Stubbs has also paid his respects, external describing Suzanne as:

  10. Firefighters tackle Huddersfield barn firepublished at 09:04 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2016

    Fire crews have been tackling a barn fire at a farm in Lepton near Huddersfield.

    Eight pumps have been used to put out the fire which involved hay bales and started just after midnight,

    The blaze has now been brought under control.

    A new drama about the Bronte sisters is on TV tonight. 

    Set and filmed in Yorkshire - "To Walk Invisible" is written by Sally Wainwright, who's also behind Last Tango in Halifax and Happy Valley.

    Market traders in the Moor Market in Sheffield have told us that they've agreed a further period of rent discount with Sheffield City Council. 

    It means they'll continue to get a cheaper deal as customer footfall isn't yet at the level hoped for when the new market opened.

    But traders say they're optimistic with the opening of the nine-screen cinema in 2017. 

    A year ago we heard how market bosses said it would be "madness" not to extend The Moor's trading hours. 

    The market was more than £500,000 in debt at the time.
