    A woman has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a fatal crash in Worcestershire earlier.

    Police said a man in his 50s was out of his car and tending to the vehicle when he was struck on the A46 Cheltenham Road, near Beckford, at about 06:45. He was declared dead at the scene.

    Road closures are still in place at the island for the A46/B4077 by Long Carrant camping site.

    The woman, 23, from Coventry, remains in police custody.

    A man hurt in a crash in Worcestershire earlier has died of his injuries, West Midlands Ambulance Service has confirmed.

    A spokesperson said the pedestrian died at the scene of the crash which happened in Beckford at 06:45 and involved a car and stationary lorry.

    The ambulance service added a woman in her 20s and a man in his 30s were taken to hospital in Redditch, where their conditions were not believed to be serious.

    A crash involving a pedestrian and a vehicle has closed the A46 in Beckford, Worcestershire.

    Three people are currently being treated at the scene, close to Cotswold Edge Leisure Vehicles Centre in Beckford, said the ambulance service, with one seriously injured.

    Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 06:45.

  11. Superfast broadband firm given rescue plan deadlinepublished at 08:27 BST 25 June 2019

    The company awarded the publicly-subsidised contract to deliver superfast broadband to thousands of rural homes in Devon and Somerset has been given a deadline to come up with a rescue plan for the programme.

    Last September, Gigaclear admitted the project was facing significant delays and was two years behind schedule.

    Connecting Devon and Somerset, the organisation in charge of the whole project, stopped paying Gigaclear nine months ago.

    It has told the firm it must come up with acceptable plans by the end of July to fulfill the contract.

    A serious crash has closed the A46 in both directions between the A435 for Teddington and A4184, Cheltenham Road, in Worcestershire.

    The road was closed by Cotswold Edge Leisure Vehicles Centre in Beckford.
