    The results of a year-long trial tackling the problems caused by parents parking illegally outside schools has been released., external

    In the course of a year, Coventry City Council says it's issued more than 1,000 fixed penalty notices, during the 12-month trial of an enforcement camera car.

    Richard Lee and Keresley Grange were two primary schools singled out as places where motorists regularly and persistently park in breach of the restrictions.

    The council's now looking at whether to make the camera car a permanent fixture.

    A drug dealer has been sentenced to seven years in prison, external after being found guilty of possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and money laundering.

    Reggie Fowell-Boston, 30, of Ashwood Court in Rugby was jailed following a three day trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court.

  8. Zombie knife law comes into forcepublished at 17:50 British Summer Time 19 July 2016

    The law's being changed today to make it illegal to sell or lend zombie knives. 

    West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner David Jamieson has been campaigning for the law change for the past year.

    The knives can be up to two feet long and have names such as Z Killer and Death Dagger. 

    Anyone who now breaches the ban faces six months behind bars and a fine.

  10. Former Bears player took own life, inquest rulespublished at 17:42 British Summer Time 19 July 2016

    A former county cricketer took his own life, an inquest has heard.

    Tom Allin, 28, who had played for Warwickshire, died months after suffering serious leg injuries in a head-on car crash.

    His body was found in Devon shortly before 9pm on January 4 this year and police later recovered three suicide notes at his home written to family and friends.

    The fast bowler was on the books of Warwickshire for six years before returning to his native Devon in 2013. Since then, he worked as a professional cricket coach.

    A muggy night in store with temperatures set to drop to around 23C (73F).

    Steve Jackson from Bablake Weather Centre says this could nevertheless break Coventry's record for the warmest night since 1892 - when the city fell to a temperature of 19.8C (68F).

    A Government scheme to help Syrian refugees settle in the UK has been launched today - with Coventry chosen as a pilot city. 

    The new scheme , externalwill enable community groups to take on the role of supporting resettled refugees in the UK.

    Coventry has taken in more than 100 refugees since last March and the government is now asking organisations and individuals who want to help, to come forward.

  14. Bus service will run for Chiltern passengerspublished at 16:59 British Summer Time 19 July 2016

    A replacement bus service will operate between Leamington Spa, Banbury and Bicester for nine days from 30 July as Network Rail closes the line to try to improve the reliability and punctuality of trains in the area.

    As well as a new track layout through Banbury station and modern signalling being installed, the investment is also providing infrastucture for a new depot south of Banbury.

  16. Eight sentenced after fraud scam in Warwickshire and Staffordshirepublished at 15:54 British Summer Time 19 July 2016

    Eight people have been sentenced, external after victims were conned out of more than £31,000 in a fraud scam say police.

    The men were sentenced at Warwick Crown Court after committing 64 offences in  Warwickshire and 17 in Staffordshire between October 2014 and January 2015.

    Victims receive phone calls informing them their bank card has been used fraudulently and they are tricked into handing over their details.  

    Police say the seven men and one 16-year-old boy targeted the elderly and vulnerable and the fraud had a "devastating" impact on the victims.
